

The GRC has partnered with AmeriCorps VISTA, through the United Way of Weld County, to receive a full time volunteer for the coming three years. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) is a nationally funded, competitive service program in which full time VISTAs serve non-profit agencies in the realm of capacity building. The GRC will receive VISTAs who will serve one year each and work on resource development and grant writing, volunteer recruitment and management, creating and strengthening programs, evaluation and intake management, and other projects.
Anna Taquet is the GRC's Community Outreach VISTA. Anna will work on strengthening and running the volunteer program at the GRC and fostering relationships with the Greeley and Colorado community at large. Prior to joining the GRC, Anna worked for a refugee resettlement agency in Chicago and for The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Anna graduated in 2011 from McGill University with a degree in International Relations and Sociology.
Rebekah Swanson is the GRC's new Resource Development VISTA. Bekah will work on grant writing, fundraising, and event planning. Originally from the Midwest area, Bekah graduated in 2010 from Luther College in Decorah, IA with a degree in religion. She spent the past year volunteering in the United Kingdom at BMS World Mission. She likes playing ultimate Frisbee, cooking, baking and doing anything outdoors.
Alexandra Walker was the GRC’s VISTA from November 2011 until November 2012 and worked in the areas of volunteer development, outreach, fundraising/grant writing, and database development. Alexandra became the Program Coordinator for the GRC's Ethnic Based Communities Self-Help grant after her VISTA term ended.
